Here's how you begin...

Several friends have asked about making cards for our military heroes. This can be an overwhelming adventure for a beginner, but there are ways to make it a bit easier. To that end, Operation Write Home has added a third blog for card makers. Stars and Stamps is posting inspiration for seasoned crafters as well as helpful tips for those new to the craft.

Today's post, Cardmaking 101: Cardstock, gives an overview of the types of paper needed for the card base. Starting with a good foundation is important. I recently purchased a pack of the Georgia-Pacific white cardstock from Wally World. It's a nice weight and very smooth and comes in a pack of 150 sheets. Great choice for beginners!

  2. Thanks, Dixie. I left a comment on the Card. 101 section but i just wanted to mention that Close To My Heart is having a "Hearts for Haiti" sale on cardstock beginning this Monday, Feb. 1st. Buy one pack of textured cardstock ($14.95) and get another pack FREE. The exciting part is that $2 from every sale will go to relief efforts in Haiti. Go to www.nycscraps.myctmh.com for more details on Monday at 11:00AM Eastern. Thanks :)
