VCMP, Challenge 3

Seongsook suggested this clever technique called "triple die cutting." The idea is to make a card that looks layered and eliminate the bulk for easy mailing. I cheated. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the papers.

Virtual Card Party, Challenge #2

Paula has the second challenge for OWHers on her blog HERE. She challenges us to make cards for children. I rarely make cards for kids, so this was just what I needed to get me headed in that direction.

I purchased this cut file in the Silhouette Online Store ages ago thinking I'd use it for my brother's birthday, but I think a Hero's child will love it.

I double cut one of the pieces so I could line the inside.

His & Hers, Day 5, Part 2

It's National Scrapbook Day, and card makers for Operation Write Home are busy making cards. I love being a rebel with a cause.

There's a Virtual Card Making Party on the Stars and Stamps Blog. The first challenge is for the ODBD challenge: Miss You cards.

My cards were inspired by cards Julie Ebersole made in the His & Hers Online Card Class. Looks like I'm still embracing the white space.

Smiling Flowers

Here's my card for the VCMP Challenge #5: Disappearing Act with Sketch 63. Leslie encouraged us to pick a piece of 12 by 12 paper, and make 6 cards. I only got one made, but I have the pieces cut to assemble 5 more.

Selective Embossing

This card is for Operation Write Home's VCMP challenge #3, Selective Embossing. I'd tried this technique before without success. Looking through some of the examples posted, I realized I needed to use a busy, graphic embossing folder with a rectangle for the "opening" of the embossing. I had my "ahh-ha" moment when I studied Lynn's card HERE

Defining the flat area with dashed lines made the focal image more crisp.

VCMP Challenge #10: Vintage

A while back, Sandy sent me a bag of ribbon I'd won on a Stars & Stamps Blog challenge. In this bag was a generous length of rose ribbon. (I'll be using it on her birthday card too.) It's tacky and NOT meant for card making. I cut the excess from around the roses for the card.

VCMP Challenge #6: Sand and Sea

I'm learning to use my Silhouette Cameo, so you're going to have to see some more of my efforts. HA!  This is very simple card. I'm learning about text, centering, grouping, copying, blah, blah, blah.

A BIG thank you to Sherry H. who sent me the awesome ribbon! The ribbon saves the card from being a total loss.

This card also follows the S&S Sketch Challenge #107 as well as Sandy's blog challenge for Hero Cards.

VCMP Challenge #4: Beachy Thinking of You

Well, my card is "beachy," but it's not a "Thinking of You" card. I guess I could stamp a sentiment on the inside. Ha!

I CASEd the design from Kristina Werner. She has a series of video tutorials on her blog for Silhouette Studio. I just got my Silhouette last week, and I need all the help I can get! See the holes in the blue sheet of paper on my card? I did that!

VCMP Challenge #3: Funky Fold

I decided to stick to the clock theme for my "funky fold" card. I made a couple of adjustments given in the tutorial. I wanted my patterned paper to cover more of the black.

This was easy to do once I drew the directions out on a piece of 4.25 x 11 paper. That's how I roll.
