It's National Scrapbook Day, and card makers for Operation Write Home are busy making cards. I love being a rebel with a cause.

My cards were inspired by cards Julie Ebersole made in the His & Hers Online Card Class. Looks like I'm still embracing the white space.

The challenge this month from Our Daily Bread Designs is to "dust off a rarely used tool or technique." I chose to "dust off" a couple of heart stamps. Ha! If we post 50 cards on the Stars & Stamps Blog, ODBD will pay to ship 2 boxes of cards to our Heroes!

While blog surfing, I've noticed a lot of cards using a curvy rectangle die. I don't have it, so I created a similar cut using my Silhouette. It needs a little adjusting, but I think my first effort turned out well.

ODBD January Challenge

Kristina Werner posted a terrific pennant card on her blog last week, and I knew I had to give it a try. You can find her post here. Her "Friday Focus" series will be focusing on Valentine's Day cards for the next few weeks.

This is my second attempt. The first one was a mess because the string I have is stiff, and it made a gluey mess when I tried to adhere it to the card. I solved that problem by folding the pennants over the string and adhering the string behind the card front. Each pennant piece is adhered with a pop dot.

Our Daily Bread Designs (also known as ODBD) has partnered with Operation Write Home, and they are sponsoring a monthly challenge. You can find more information HERE.

This month's challenge? Make a "love" card. OWH will be needing lots of love and Valentine cards in the next few weeks. They need to be on their way to the Troops by the first week in January at the latest.

I've made a similar card before, but I think the owl deserves another showing with his top hat.
