Marker Storage

Part of today’s lesson for OCC’s Copic Coloring for Card Makers involved storage. I don’t use my markers on a daily basis, so I needed a system that could easily be moved on and off my desk. I searched for images online using the term “Copic storage” and found several possibilities.

This was easy to assemble. I found a basket at Michael’s with handles and a nice liner. Make sure the basket has 90 degree angles on the corners and a flat bottom. The florescent light grid, bolts, nuts, and washers were purchased at Lowes.

I keep my color chart in a plastic bag on top of my basket for easy access.

I cut the light grid into two rectangles to fit the basket. The bolts, washers, and nuts keep the grids stable.

This basket will hold 392 markers.

Backgrounds with Copics

Several examples were presented in the “Background” class, and I chose to start with Kristina’s idea. This stamp from Art Impressions is fun, and it makes a perfect card for my Operation Write Home box.

Helmet Head

We’re learning to color hair and skin in OCC’s Copic Coloring for Card Makers. All my practice heads look like they’re wearing a helmet. Hahaha!!! Yes, I’ll keep practicing!

I added googly eyes to make her look even creepier!

Flowers

It’s time to color flowers for OCC’s Copic Coloring for Cardmakers. I’m learning I do better with inanimate objects, not people and flowers. After much practice, I finally decided to just pick one and post it. I enlarged the image from the class practice sheet.

Robin, take 2

I colored another robin. I toned down the orange and beefed up the brown. Now it looks like it’s molting. Ha!

Blending Tricks

Here’s another card for Copic Coloring for Card Makers. I used the “tip to tip” blending trick for my robin.

I used WAY too much YR! More practice needed!

Basic Blending

The latest installment of Online Card Classes is Copic Markers for Card Makers. I’ve taken several beginners classes for coloring with Copics, and none of them worked for me. We’ll see if I have more success with this one. I have high hopes!

Our first day of class included lots of suggestions for blending. Here are three of my packages from my homework practice sheets. I didn’t want to waste all that work!
