Finishing Strong!

I love the OWH Memorial Day Blog Hop! It's been a fun tradition. Links to all blogs on the hop can be found HERE.

Operation Write Home, a charity that's supported deployed heroes with handmade cards since 2007, will be closing later this year. All card donations must be sent to OWH by August 1, 2015. I'm helping to get the word out!

Here's my card, a clean and simple one. I'll be using it to write a thank you message to a deployed service member.

Hero Arts - Thanks Stamp and Cut
Taylored Expressions - Summer Nights
Simon Says Stamp - Large Holiday Shapes (stars)
Stampin' Up - colored card stock
Neenah - white card stock

Thanks for visiting! All blogs on the hop are listed HERE.

Red Friday - OWH Bloghop

Welcome to my post for Operation Write Home's Red Friday Bloghop! If you arrived here without starting at the beginning, you’ll want to click HERE to get to the top of the hop.

Sandy suggested we make a Valentine or a love card for the bloghop. I rummaged through my crafty area and collected all things "heart" and got busy! Long time OWHers will know the search was brief and yielded little. ; )

This card can be a Valentine or a love card. It'll have a longer shelf life since I didn't use the word "Valentine." I used Spellbinders' classic and scalloped hearts dies to frame my sentiment. The small heart dies are from Simon Says Stamp. That lovely sentiment is WPlus9's "Hand Lettered Hello" set, and it's embossed with Hero Arts embossing powder. For a little drama, the kraft card stock is layered with foam adhesive. It's a clean and simple card, my favorite.

Back in the day when I was the east coast shipper for OWH, I remember things slowed down in the winter months. Sending a few cards from your stash would be helpful. Just write "Operation Write Home" on the back of each card, tuck the back flap of each into an envelope, and send them to Sandy. If you're new to OWH, here's a helpful LINK with all the details.

Be sure to read the information on the Stars and Stamps post so you can send what’s needed. Make a hero’s day by giving them a beautiful creation for writing home!

What’s a bloghop without prizes? See this Stars and Stamps post for the list of goodies from the generous sponsors, and go link up your love card there, too! There are prizes for those who comment on the blogs and for folks who share their own creations!

The next stop on the hop is Jennifer McGuire. Thank you, Jennifer, for your support of Operation Write Home!

HUGE THANKS
to the sponsors of this bloghop!

Operation Write Home is a charity that sends blank handmade cards to service members deployed overseas. We’ve sent nearly 3 million cards! That’s a lot of cards and a lot of love heading home to those who are keeping the home fires burning.

Big Thanks to Art Impressions!

Blog Hop Banner

Welcome to my stop on the blog hop! The good folks at Art Impressions have created some clever new stamps just for OWH.

I'm not a "colorer," but I think I did OK with this fun stamp from the "OWH Every Hat" set. Before coloring with Copics, I created a cut file for my Silhouette Cameo, and used a stamp positioner for stamping before removing the paper from the carrier sheet. No fussy cutting for this chick! (Learned that trick in an online class, A Cut Above.)

The sentiment is heat embossed with Stampendous detail white embossing powder. This is a thin font, and it embossed perfectly.

In addition to the stamps from Art Impressions, I used a 6x6 paper pad from Basic Grey, the Knee High  collection.

You can check out the 2 new sets here:

My Country, Mit Land

How wonderful that Operation Write Home gets to share a bloghop with our sister organization, Operation Skriv Hjem, in Denmark! This is their first bloghop, so leave them lots of comments! The hop starts HERE. (You should have arrived here from Dorthe's blog, Pipserier.)

Here's my red, white, and blue card, and it's a clean and simple one.

A quick note on the process. I used the Silhouette to cut 4 identical white rectangles with  circles inside. I layered them and tied the twine on either side. Foam adhesive beneath the pennants makes them stand out from the cloud background.

Hero Arts - "Clouds," "Big Hugs" sentiment, Pool mid-tone ink, white detail embossing powder
Carl - star punch
SU Real Red and Night of Navy card stock, designer series paper
Neenah - solar white card stock
WeR - twine
Silhouette

Your next stop on the hop is Gitte. You can find her blog HERE. Wow! She's talented!

Here's a sketch for my card. Thanks, Paula, for making the sketches!
