Glitzy New Year's Card

Happy New Year! This card is for the Glitz and Glam challenge at StampNation.

It's hard to get a good photo of sparkle.

I cut the snowflake 3 times, twice with white card stock and once with the glittery paper. Layering them makes subtle dimension.

Pretty Pink Posh - Metallic Silver Confetti Mix
Impression Obsession - Snowflakes (die)

Inspiration Nation: Day 1

Stamp Nation is having an inspiration week with a new mood board provided each day. The colors on the first board were ones I'd never pick to use on a card, but I enjoyed the challenge.

MFT - Happy Hellos (die)
DCWV - Glitzy Glitter (6x6 paper pad)

CASEing Christmas Day 7

This card is an engineering miracle. The gold thread almost got the best of me.

Photographing shiny paper is difficult. I need sunshine to get good pictures. I've heard a rumor we may see the sun tomorrow.

I stacked three of the branches to give a little bulk for hanging the ornaments, and coated the top with a white gel pen.

I masked the sides of the white panel before inking it with distress inks. It adds another "layer," and I like the sharp look it gives. Fun stuff.

Spellbinders - 2011 and 2010 Heirloom Ornaments
Impression Obsession - Bare Branch
Lawn Fawn - Stitched Rectangles and Stitched Hillside Borders
Simon Says Stamp - Be Joyful (sentiment)
Ranger- Salty Ocean and Peacock Feathers inks, clear embossing powder
Neenah - white card stock
From my stash - red and gold shiny paper, gold thread
Signo - white gel pen
Versafine Onyx Black Ink

CASEing Christmas Day 6

This is a terrible picture of this card, but I'm posting anyway. If I waited for the sun to shine, I'd not get any blog posts done.

Maureen was the CASEr (hahaha) for day 6 of class, and she did a Bokeh card. My inks are not conducive to this technique, and my second generation stamping is splotchy.

Essentials by Ellen - Bokeh Dots
The Ton - Holiday Flourishes (sentiment)
Simon Says Stamp - Green Leaf and Lipstick Red inks
Tsukineko - Delicata Golden Glitz ink
Hero Arts - gold embossing powder

CASEing Christmas Day 5

I found the card for day 5 difficult to CASE. Thankfully, Catherine added a second card, and I went from there. Unfortunately, both cards were covered in glitter. Ugh. (Too many years making cards for Operation Write Home! I still cringe when I see it.)

Lawn Fawn - Making Frosty Friends (stamps and dies)
Hero Arts - Snowflake Circle, Holiday Sayings, white embossing powder
Spellbinders - circle and scalloped circle dies
My Mind's Eye - Merry Little Christmas 6x6 paper pack
Neenah - white card stock
Stampin' Up - red and green card stock
Copics

CASEing Christmas Day 4

For this CASE, I used the slant of color, inlayed die, and silver snowflakes from Heather's card on StampNation. I'm still using the "sweep" from upper left to lower right from the original card we were given.

I used silver glitter paper for the snowflakes. Ugh. I need to vacuum.

Neat and Tangled - Happy Holidays die
Lawn Fawn - Snowflakes dies
Simon Says Stamp - Stitched Rectangles
Hero Arts - Holiday Sayings
Versafine Onyx Black Ink
Ranger - Festive Berries ink, clear embossing powder
Neenah - white card stock
Stampin' Up - blask card stock
American Crafts - silver glitter paper

CASEing Christmas Day 2

For day 2, Maureen Merritt CASEd the card from day one of the CASEing Christmas class, and I've CASEd her card here. I was drawn to her snowy scene with a blue and purple background.

I used a white gel pen to put the snow on the trees.

Impression Obsession - Evergreen Trees
Herp Arts - Tiny Flakes, Holiday Sayings
Lawn Fawn - Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables, Stitched Hillside Borders
Ranger - Clear Embossing Powder, Broken China and Dusty Concord inks

CASEing Christmas Day #1

I'm CASEing a Catherine Pooler card. StampNation is running a class this month: CASEing Christmas. It will be fun to see the end results as the CASEings will be one after the other.

I changed several elements from the original card, but I used the same basic card design.

This card is for the Japan challenge at StampNation. The inspiration photos included beautiful flowers.

Hudson's Bay Blanket

Here's another card for a challenge at StampNation. The inspiration photos included Hudson's Bay blankets and sweaters. I had to do a little research. These blankets have green, red, yellow, and indigo stripes.

Since the challenge photos were a representation of Canada, I threw in some maple leaves too. It is fall after all, and all my fall stuff is close at hand.

Paper Smooches - Borders 3

Hero Arts - All Occasion Messages
Neenah - Classic Cream card stock

Read

School started here in NC two weeks ago, and I'm still happy I retired. Ha!

Here's a back-to-school card for "Challenge #181 - Simple Sentiments" at StampNation. It doesn't get any simpler or more profound than this sentiment.

Just Saying Hello

It seems I do more heat embossing in the summer than any other time. What's up with that? It's hot here already! Anyway, I used clear embossing powder on the background and white powder on the tag.

This card is for "Challenge #179: Tag It" at StampNation.

Hero Arts - Lattice (background), All Occasion Messages, white embossing powder
Cas-ual Fridays - Tag Buddies
Poppy Stamps - Meadow Leaf die
Ranger - clear embossing powder
Simon Says Stamp inks - Green Apple, Orange Peel, Sunshine

Friend

Here's another card made with the Stamp of Approval collection from Catherine Pooler. I used a stencil and various inks to create the background. The silver and black strip along the left side was made using the same stencil with embossing paste.

The "friend" die is popped up on fun foam to add a bit of dimension.

Winnie and Walter - Pattern of the Rings (stencil)
Cas-ual Fridays - Girlfriend (stamp), Friend (die)
Ranger - silver superfine embossing powder
Simon Says Stamp - Schoolhouse Red, Orange Peel, Goldenlocks, Willow, Blue Jay (inks)
