His & Hers, Day 5, Part 2

It's National Scrapbook Day, and card makers for Operation Write Home are busy making cards. I love being a rebel with a cause.

There's a Virtual Card Making Party on the Stars and Stamps Blog. The first challenge is for the ODBD challenge: Miss You cards.

My cards were inspired by cards Julie Ebersole made in the His & Hers Online Card Class. Looks like I'm still embracing the white space.

Today in class, we were encouraged to make "anniversary and love" cards. I went clean and simple again, embracing the white space. I used Kristina's card design as inspiration.

His & Hers, Day 4, Part 2

May is Military Appreciation month, and Ann M. issued a challenge on Operation Write Home's Facebook page. She's writing an Any Hero letter every day this month. I'm in!

I used inspiration from today's His and Hers class to make several of these cards.

Day 4 of the His & Hers class? Make cards for Mother's Day and Father's Day. Kelly Rasmussen showed us a terrific card design. She also used one of my favorite tricks: stacking die cuts. I've never inked the stacks though, but I gave it a try. Messy and fun!

His & Hers, Day 3

Day 3 of OCC's His & Hers was about making sympathy cards. Operation Write Home doesn't need sympathy cards. (Thinking of you cards are more versatile and can be used for sympathy.) It's nice to have a few on hand for personal use.

I used Kristina's design from class for my cards. I chose to use strips of paper rather than stamping on my cards. (I can't seem to stamp straight today!)

Here are my clean and simple cards.

My first version of these cards had wider strips of paper, and they looked "off." I remembered Paula's tips from Design Bootcamp, Composition and the Rule of Thirds. Problem solved!

My cards aren't very gender specific, but that's OK with me.

Here's the masculine version of the card I posted yesterday. This is a CASE of Shari Carroll's cards from the second day of "His & Hers," an Online Card Class. I like using the same sketch for both a masculine and a feminine card.

Good grief! I'm still working on day one of class! So many great ideas!

I attached the one layer card fronts to a card base. These cards are nice and flat, and perfect for Operation Write Home.

His & Hers, Day 1

The most recent installment of Online Card Classes is "His & Hers." The artists are teaching us to make masculine and feminine cards. Lisa Spangler was a guest today, and she made her cards using the same sketch and paper collection. I thought I'd give that a try. I used the Deconstructed Sketch #99.
