A Tourist in My Own City

My sister-in-law and I went to uptown Charlotte for a visit on Friday. I rarely go there. Well, I did go last month when I had jury duty, but I never go to just walk around and look. We wanted to check out the city before the Democratic Convention started. So many people coming to visit! Exciting times! I think the Queen City cleans up well.

Driving into town.

Dumpster art? Recycling at its best!

The arena, where the delegates will meet.

Inside the arena.

The Lynx, light rail.

The EpiCentre.

"Way too Early with Willie Giest" and "Morning Joe" will broadcast from BlackFinn.

MSNBC's place.

Sand sculpture in progress.

Police on dirt bikes?

Bank of America...the calm before the storm.

The square.

St. Peter's Episcopal Church.

University of North Carolina at Charlotte, uptown campus.

Bunting!!

And finally...a brief stop in NoDa to visit my brother at Station 7.

Charlotte looks great. I hope everything goes well.

  1. Great tour of our fine city! Well, it's not technically my city any longer since I've moved to the neighboring county. But you're right, it does clean up well.

Great photographic tour! I've never seen some of those buildings!

  4. Enjoyed the tour. We tend to miss what is around us, so it is nice to turn the lens on it.
