I paired Unity's "Now & Always" set with one of their new sentiments. Lots of fussy cutting for the flower as I stamped it 3 times on 3 different sheets of paper. After cutting all the pieces, I inked the edges and glued them together.
My card doesn't have a liner yet. I'll write a note to a Hero on the liner and adhere it when I'm happy with the message. Do you need suggestions for writing Hero Mail? Check HERE.

Oh Dixie.. this is gorgeous!! I can only imagine the smile this puts on someone's face when they receive it. thanks for sharing ~ Pam
ReplyDeleteEven though the card's focus is a flower - it has a masculine feel. Nice!

Simply elegant. Love the vintage look. The flowers on pattern paper really work as does the inking.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, the fussy cutting for the flower is wonderful! I know that takes time but the effect is great. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful card, Dixie! I love the texty background. And that's a great idea to write your note out separately on a liner first! Thanks for participating in our hop today and for all you do for OWH!
ReplyDeleteWow! Lovely card, and two super tips - waiting til you get the message right to adhere the liner, and I love seeing AnyHero cards that aren't military or patriotic themed :) Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteDixie, I am partial to flowers and I love your card the best!!! It would be a great card for a female hero. I like how you did all that fussy cutting and distressing!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely card. I like the print background and your layered flower.
ReplyDeleteWow, this is beautiful! I love the colors, the soft yellow is so pretty against the neutrals and I love the patterns on the layers of the flower. Really pretty!

ReplyDeletemy first thought...ooh I love that flower! The background paper is great, this is a great card.
ReplyDeleteThis card is so cool. Great Hero card for both male or female. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteFabulous card - love the colors, and the flower is a wonderful touch, with all those layers.
ReplyDeleteI love the distressed colorway of this card. Even with the flower, it's got a good masculine look.
ReplyDeleteDixie, if I knew how to whistle I would. Your card is gorgeous, the flower pops off the card and the greens tone it down so it can be masculine or feminine. The sentiment you used is perfect.
ReplyDeleteWhat? Fussy cutting - no Silhouette?? It's gorgeous, you did a wonderful job.
ReplyDeleteI love the newspaper/text design background and the flower is awesome. Writing in liners is such a good idea. I can't tell you how much easier it has made writing Any Hero notes for me since I started doing that this year. No more worries if I make a spelling mistake or something doesn't sound quite right, plus it's easy to carry liners in an envelope in my purse when I know I'll be waiting somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThis is so pretty! Everything about it just "goes together". I know we're not supposed to say this, but it sums it up best....great card!
ReplyDeleteI love the newspaper look and it all blends together so nicely.
ReplyDeleteDixie, your card is superb! I love everything about it from the fabulous flower to the papers (especially the text and graph backgrounds).
ReplyDeleteThis is really nice! I love how you did the flower and the color scheme!
ReplyDeleteWow, love this card. The colors are so yummy together and blend so nicely with the newsprint. Thanks for the idea. I have this flower set so this card is going into my "to be cased" file.

ReplyDeleteI love the text background you used on this card and appreciate all of that fussy cutting on the flower.
ReplyDeleteI really like this card!!! I love the flower....The colors are perfect to accent the flower and the sentiment without taking away from them.....I'm not sure about the circle and other thing in the lower right hand corner....that kind of pulls the eyes away from the sentiment. ReplyDeleteOutstanding! Love the different papers that you used on your card and the way you used the black to calm it all down. The fussy cutting really does make it a fantastic flower.
ReplyDeleteDixie, I'm not surprised your card is GORGEOUS, but having a dear friend who's an Army commander who had to leave her two babies with her mother while both she and he husband were deployed in Iraq, I love that you made one that works for either gender. I clicked through for your inside hints; thank you! Although writing's my day job, I'll admit Any Hero cards often stump me. But you've provided just the inspiration I need!
ReplyDeleteLove how you did your card!!
ReplyDeleteLove the background, and then the way you did that flower!!

Wow! The thing that impresses me the most is that you have eight different patterns/papers and it doesn't look busy at all! Fantastic use of a variety of patterns.

ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, That is a beautiful card! Everything works so well together the colors and texture of it are so well done. When I can create a card like this I will be very happy.
ReplyDeleteThis is simply lovely! I love the non-patriotic papers you used. And the layered flower is absolutely stunning. That flower stamp set has been on my wish list for awhile.
ReplyDeleteA fantastic card design. Love that flower you created. And, goes perfectly with that sentiment too. Thanks for sharing your talent!

ReplyDeleteThe flower is definitely worth all the work - it looks great and not too feminine.
ReplyDeleteWould never have thought so many patterns could look so fabulous!
ReplyDeleteBut they do!
Flower is not too girlie either
Love it!
Great colors on your card. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! That flower is awesome. You took precious time to do that fussy cutting for our heroes. It makes the card really stand out. I like the text-type paper for the background. It makes it more of a masculine card - even with the flower. Yes. Even guys like getting flowers every now and again. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe flower is gorgeous- thanks for doing the fussy cutting- I am inspired! I really like your card layout as well!
ReplyDeleteThat flower is beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteThe flower is awesome and soooo worth all the trouble to make it! Love that sentiment! Thanks for sharing your card!
ReplyDeleteYour card is gorgeous and I admire your patience for all of that fussy cutting. It must be the years of teaching middle school that taught you that level of patience! :) The best tip you shared has to be the tip to write the liner first and then adhere it to the card. It's always so frustrating to make a mistake inside a card when you've spent so much time perfecting the outside!
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome card! I'm partial to the layered vintage flower and enjoy seeing what others do with it.
ReplyDeleteLove the stamp...'THANK YOU for you sacrifice and service'. It says it all!
ReplyDeleteInking those edges makes all the difference. Love the newspaper background too. Nice work!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I love how this Anyhero note is more feminine... I try to make some girly Anyhero notes, but it's not my normal mode! Now you've inspired me!
ReplyDeleteVintage look is so special! That flower is gorgeous!

ReplyDeleteThis is stunning! I love the Now and Always set and it is perfect with the sentiment.
ReplyDeleteI really like the bold flower against the text background! Thanks for the gentle reminder that some of our heroes are women who would really appreciate the prettiness of a flower!
ReplyDeleteI love a text background. And the flower is great. Great choice of sentiment choice to go on a floral setting. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteDixie the is gorgeous!! Your paper choices are wonderful and the flower is amazing. I also love the sentiment in brown. Your cards are always a treat. Thank you for participating in the skip, and for all you do for OWH.
ReplyDeleteOMGoodness, Dixie! What a fabulous card! I love, love, love the flower and your color choices!!
ReplyDeleteThe flower is amazing... I can't imagine fussy cutting that thing. I would have messed something up somewhere :)
ReplyDeleteGreat idea for not putting your liner in ahead of time. I've started leaving my liner unglued on cards I premake just in case I screw up when I'm writing my message.
I really love the color combo and the sentiment on your card.
ReplyDeleteThis card is beautiful!!! I love the colors, the simple lines and the wonderful book pages!! I will be copying this design for sure. Thanks for sharing.
