Finally, a real camera

I bought my first 35 mm camera in January of 1980. School had been dismissed early because of snow, and I knew I better get that Camaro from Kannapolis to home before there was a significant accumulation on the road. The Camaro did not like slick roads! I made just one quick, impulsive stop before I hit the interstate. Brendle's in the Cloverleaf Plaza. I wanted a real camera.

I quickly selected a Pentax 35 mm camera and three rolls of black and white film. Color film was more expensive to buy and develop at the time, and I reasoned I didn't know what I was doing anyway. Why waste money? Heck, I didn't even know how to load the film much less shoot pictures. With my loot in the car, I headed home in the snow.

Those three rolls of film had some of the best pictures I have ever taken.

My next camera was a Minolta 35 mm I bought before my second trip to Europe in 1991. It had lots more bells and whistles. My favorite feature? It loaded the film and rewound it at the push of a button! Wow.

I resisted getting a digital camera when they first came into vogue. I reasoned that my film camera did a better job, and at the time this was true. Over the years, the improvements in the digital camera have grown by leaps and bounds. So in May of 2007, I put down my Minolta and bought a Canon PowerShot SD 550. It's a compact little camera and fits in my pocket, it travels well, and it takes good pictures.

I wanted a camera that would take great pictures. On Thursday, I went to Biggs Camera and took advantage of a package special. I bought a Canon T1i. I don't know how to utilize all the bells and whistles on it yet, but I'll learn. This camera has the potential to take great pictures!
