I've had this tree for the kitchen since 1998. I usually decorate it with clear lights and "kitchen" things. I've got a terrific collection of gingerbread men and women to adorn its branches. The tree itself is about at the end of its life...too many trips up and down the basement steps!
In February 2007, I redecorated it after Christmas, and it became known as the Sammy tree in honor of my nephew. He was deployed to Baghdad, Iraq as part of the surge. The tree stayed there for 15 months until his return home in May 2008.
Under the tree this year, I have placed the tools of the trade for an Operation Write Home shipper. I collected flat rate boxes, customs forms, and empty boxes for sorting. The packing tape, major tape gun, calendar, flyers and Christmas card are courtesy of Sandy and OWH. Thanks, Sandy!
Love the tree! Will it remain in the kitchen or in the "East Coast Shipper HQ?"

ReplyDeleteLove it Dixie!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for commenting on my blog, Dixie! You should know I was born and for the most part raised in Charlotte. Your tree is FABULOUS, and this retired military spouse sure appreciates your efforts for our men and women in uniform!
