Our homework for day three challenged us to make a clean, simple, and fabulous card. I CASEd Shari Carroll’s card. Shari is a master at making collages on cards. I love the look, but I have trouble with the execution.
I layered some of the elements to make them a bit sturdier. For example, the “Merry” is three layers and the frame is two.
What did I learn about clean and simple “collagey” cards? First, it takes a lot of stuff to make them. My desk was a cluttered mess when I finished. Secondly, Shari was right about “dry fitting” the pieces before assembly. I fiddled with the pieces a lot.
Basic Grey - Aspen Frost 6x6 paper pad
Impression Obsession - Gradation, banner stamps
Hero Arts - Wet Cement ink, white embossing powder
Spellbinders - Labels 18, Circles
Emagination - Tree punch
Neenah - white card stock
Provo Craft - embossing folder
Silhouette - “Merry” cut file

I like your color palate on this card and I really like the "shaped" embossed snowflake background.
ReplyDeleteIt's very pretty, your fiddling paid off. I know what you mean about collagey cards - I like the look of them, but don't want to go to all of the trouble to make them. I especially like the curved edge on the embossed piece.
