Stick a fork in me...

...I'm done.

I got 16 packages of OWH cards today. Yes, 16.

Here's how it works:
  • Slice open the box or envelope with a sharp Swiss Army knife.
  • Search for the Packing Slip.
  • Look for Hero mail, and put it in the Hero Box for later reading.
  • Look for donations, and place them in the shipping envelope.
  • Look through the cards and drool at the creativity.
  • Make a note on the Packing slip of the goodness found in the package.
  • Check to see if the cards have the OWH website stamped on the back. No stamp? Put those in the "No Stamp" box.
  • Check dark cards for liners. Needs a liner? Put those in the "Liner" box.
  • Check for cards that might need a little love. (adhesive, embellishment, etc.)
  • Put the back flap of each card in an envelope, and fold the flap to the back. This is so the card and envelope can stay together forever.
  • Sort the cards into the occasion boxes. (Birthday, Miss You, etc.)
  • From the "Needs Help" boxes, stamp the backs, line the darks, and stuff cards into envelopes. Sort into the occasion boxes.
  • Divvy the cards into flat rate USPS boxes.
  • Email the sender that their cards arrived safe and sound.
  • Complete a Thankful Thursday for every package.
Edit: Had a wonderful question about envelopes. If you tell me on the packing slip that all cards are marked with the OWH website, I am going to believe you and not look at the back of every card. Otherwise, I'm going to look at a few to see if it's there. To tuck the flap or not to tuck the flap? Your call.

I got everything done for all 16 packages EXCEPT the Thankful Thursday reports. I'll think about that tomorrow. (Sounds like Miss Scarlett.)

Anyway, I'm tired. It's 3:30 AM. I'm done for the day. I'll post pictures of the middle school letter writing event another time.

  1. Dixie,
I want to start sending envelopes with my cards. Will it help to go ahead and put the back flap of the card in the envelope or sort the envelopes in a different stack since you have to look at the back of the card?

  3. Maybe you should start thinking about building an extension on your house. The OWH wing!

  4. I'm pretty good about stamping the back of the cards so I will try to remember to write on the packing slip that they are ready to go! Thanks Dixie!
