One of our homework suggestions for day 4 of class was to rework an old card or an unfinished card. The card I chose was only a week or so old, and technically, it was "finished," but I wasn't happy with it.
Last week I purchased the digital cut file for the Hero Arts balloon. What do you get with this file? The first two die cuts in the picture below. I had to make some adjustments to the size for it to fit the stamp from the OWH set "Happy Birthday." On the far right, you can see where I stamped the image using my jig. I still had to trim the basket, and the cut file doesn't include the bow.
Here's my first attempt, including my notes on changes that needed to be made.
And here's my final draft. I'm a beginner in the Copic coloring world, so I used some of Sandy's tips for coloring HERE. I also added a punched bow.
Hero Arts "Happy Birthday" stamps, Silhouette cut file
Fiscars - cloud punch
Marvy-Uchida - bow punch
Copic markers
Stampin' Up - card stock
Neenah - white card stock

A fabulous card! I liked your first version, but you certainly have added some extra pop with the added/changed details on the second. A happy and colourful card!
ReplyDeleteYour cut file turned out pretty well, you obviously have more patience with that sort of thing than I do. I love the finished card. I like the torn layers of green at the bottom, that one is going on my list of things to remember.
ReplyDeleteThis is wonderful! I love cards that are "scenes" -- I don't do them very well but you did great!
ReplyDeleteI love your card, where did you get the cut file for the hot air balloon?
ReplyDeleteI just bought this stamp set, and now you tell me there is a cut file for it? I think I need it. Who said blogging was free? ;/
ReplyDeletePS: Your coloring is fabulous. I can't wait to get my paws on my set to give it a try!
ReplyDeleteLove the revised card! Good call on the 3 layers of green!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great before and after Dixie! It looks like you are getting a lot out of this class. I'm enjoying all of your Kick-Start posts. :)
